Coming Attractions!!!

October 27, 2008

On Sunday, November 2, Pastor Darrell Wenzek will continue in his series in Genesis Chapter 3, verses 14-24.  It is about “Paradise Lost.”  Oh, what might have been had we not – well you know.

Our Elders will meet on November 3, so if you have something that needs attention, or if you have a question. please contact Roger Burkhart, Jim Craft, or Stan Walker.

We will have Men’s Breakfast on November 8 at 8:30AM at the Deer Lagoon Grange.  Please come.  Bring a friend or just show up.  We will just see how The Lord blesses us all.

On Sunday, November 9, we will have a potluck and congregational meeting right after the worship service.  The meetings are a great way to get to know people and hear about who does what, and what is happening in the church.  You do not need to be a member to attend, so please come.  It is a Mexican potluck so you can expect to be well fed.  If you have a special diet item or something you would like to share, please bring it along.  God bless you this week.

Oh! And remember the time change this week so you don’t end up waiting outside the Grange for people who will be arriving an hour later than you thought.

Praise The Lord and draw your sword. (The Bible)

We were delighted with a timely message by Art Angst that came out of Jeremiah 18 regarding how our God is great beyond our understanding.  And He can certainly do as He chooses without explanation to any of us.  So our job is not to question what God is doing, but to ask ourselves if what we are doing conforms to God’s will.  The Word is where we need to look to arm ourselves for the coming spiritual battles that we will certainly face.

Many of you know Pastor John Groce as having been on the staff at the Langley Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.   On Sunday, October 26, Pastor John will bring us a message our of John 3:16.

Now how can anyone say anthing new about John 3:16.  But just when we start thinking that way, we are nearly always suprised by some new thing that the scripture teaches us if our hearts and minds are open to hearing The Holy Spirit.

It will be a wonderful blessing for us to see John again and hear the message God will deliver through him.

IT WAS GREAT!

October 13, 2008

Our one year anniversary celebration was simple, encouraging, and a blessing to all who attended.  It is evident that no one person “built the church,” but that it has been God who has been bringing people into worship of Him.  It is so wonderful to see how He works in spite of all our human inadaquacies and struggles.  We pray for continued blessing throughout this next year.

On Sunday, October 19, Art Angst will present a message that comes from Jeremiah 18, verses 1-12.  His sermon does not have a title yet, but the scripture deals with how God does as he pleases with the men of Judah as He warns them that they will suffer terrible consequences if they do not turn from their evil ways.  Of course Chapter 24 finds them being taken into captivity so we know they did not do as God commanded and paid a huge price for it.  Art’s message will likely have application for us today as many in our country refuse to heed God’s word.

On October 26, our guest preacher will be John Groce, formerly of Christian Missionary Alliance church right here on the island in Langley, and we will be looking forward to seeing him again and hearing the message.

And by-the-way, our wonderful chairs arrived so our new seating is a blessing too.

Celebration!

October 5, 2008

On Sunday, October 12, our church will celebrate the one year anniversary of our holding public worship services at the Deer Lagoon Grange.  During our first year we grew from our original ten members to an average attendance in the high twenties with a maximum of 35 souls present.  But more importantly, we have seen many prayers anwered and people being blessed with a sense of participation in the work of God’s family.

Pastor Darrell Wenzek will continue in his series out of Genesis with a sermon entitled “The problem with men and women.”   His last semon about temptation highlighted the fact that the man sinned and the woman was deceived meaning that while the woman fell into sin because of deception, the man knew exactly what he was doing as he disobeyed God.  So much for the old claim that it was the woman who caused the man to sin, when in reality, the man went into it with his eyes wide open.

If you disagree with any of that, you can express your view or find clarification if you will come at 9:00AM during the hour before the worship service at 10:00AM when we have two Sunday morning groups who study scripture.  Hope to see you there.
