All is going well!

June 26, 2008

We had 34 in attendance on Sunday June 22 at the worship service.  Seating could become an issue so we are looking at adding some cushioned chairs if the Grange will agree to that.

Jim Craft’s new Sunday School class at 9:00AM started in Ephesians and is going well.  Stan Walker’s class in Romans continues too.  Both classes are relatively small now so there is certainly room for new participants.  Please come and check us out.  Plus there are lots of opportunities mid-week for Bible study mentioned in our bulletin.

Our worship service begins at 10:00AM.  This week Dr. Ed Cook will present a message entitled “Come and See: An invitation to Investigation,” which is based on several scriptures in John.  Ed always provides a good message and we enjoy his visits with us very much.

It’s time for a beach barbecue!  Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 20 when we’ll go to the Crafts’ home on Mutiny Bay for an after-church barbecue.  Just bring a salad or dessert, and your appetite.  More information will appear soon.

Is summer finally here?

June 17, 2008

Some churches discontinue Sunday School during the summer months.  But since God never takes a vacation, we’ll continue to make His Word available in a Sunday School format.  And besides that, there are more people here on Whidbey Island during the summer months than at any other time of the year.  Please come and check us out at the Grange at 9:00AM every Sunday.

Jim Craft will start his new Sunday School hour class entitled “The Blessings of Redemption” this Sunday on June 22.  Paul’s letter to the Ephesians will get the group started and we expect everyone who participates will be blessed.  Contact Jim at 331-7161 for more information.

Of course Stan Walker continues his class in Romans and has advanced to Chapter 9.  It is a verse by verse study that can be joined by anyone at anytime.  You will feel comfortable in the discussion with comments or questions.  You can contact Stan at 331-7774 for more information.

Art Angst’s mid-week Bible Study continues on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM at the home of Rick and Dinah Zapata.  The are studying Luke and Acts.  Contact Art at 331-8365 or at FUZZWUZZ@WHIDBEY.COM for details and the address.

Our worship service begins at 10:00AM.  This week features our own Art Angst as he shares a message about “Levi’s Conversion.”  Remember, we know that Jesus said to the tax collector, “Follow Me.”  And he did!  Can we expect to learn more about the results of that invitation?  We can!  Please join us as we hear the message and glorify God.

The second week of June, so what are we doing?

June 9, 2008

Some of us are wondering about the weather – that’s for sure.  But anyway . . .

Art Angst’s mid-week Bible Study continues on Wednesday nights at 7:00PM at the home of Rick and Dinah Zapata.  They are studying Luke and Acts.  Contact Art at 331-8365 or at FUZZWUZZ @WHIDBEY.COM for details and the address.

Join us at 9:00AM Sunday morning for adult study at the Grange where Stan Walker leads a discussion as we study our way through Romans.  We are about to finish Chapter 8.  You can join in at any time and feel comfortable at any level of participation. Contact Stan at 331-7774 or through this Blog for details.

Jim Craft will lead a second 9:00AM study which is set to begin on June 22.  It too should be an interesting discussion class.

Our worship service begins at 10:00AM.  This week, Darrell Wenzek will finish his series in Galatians with a message entitled “How to recognize the real thing,” based on Galatians 6:11-18.  We will sing a couple of hymns, read the scripture, pray, hear the message, and hopefully glorify God in everything we say and do.  Please come and join us.

What is happening this week SWCC?

June 2, 2008

Mid-week Bible Study continues to be led by Art Angst on Wednesday nights at 7:00PM, at the home of Rick and Dinah Zapata.  The group is studying their way through Luke and Acts.  Contact Art at 331-8365 or at FUZZWUZZ@WHIDBEY.COM for details and the location.

Join us at 9:00AM Sundays for the adult study at the Grange where Stan Walker is leading a discussion in the Book of Romans.  Right now we are in chapter 8 and dealing with the predestination issue.

A second Sunday School class during the 9:00AM hour is planned to begin on June 22.  We will post details soon.

Our worship service beings at 10:00AM and this week will feature Darrell Wenzek, who is preaching a series in Galatians about personal responsibility.  We invite you to come and see if our casual but more traditional style of worship is a comfortable fit for you.

We hope you’ll stop by and give South Whidbey Community Church a try!
